Happy Humpday Everyone! As some of you may know, it is Soul Music Wednesday! I truly believe soul music provides a spiritual experience for both the listener and vocalist alike. On Wednesdays, I like to share a featured love song and give my feedback on the record. Some of the songs will be old classics and others will be new favorites.
The song featured today is “Shining Star” by Earth, Wind, and Fire. The song was written by Maurice White, Larry Dunn, and Phillip Bailey and released on January 21, 1975. Here is a link to the song below…
“Shining Star” garnered much commercial success. It won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The record sold over one million copies and reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. “Shining Star” was inspired by a late night stroll, looking up at the starry sky. While funky and groovy to listen to, the song also has a great uplifting message to follow your dreams and realize your self-worth. “Shining Star” is a classic party record and is still enjoyed by many generations including those to come.
