This past weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to Los Angeles, California to meet up with a friend from college. In our time together, it made me realize that I truly need to live in the moment more often. While we had an idea of what we wanted to do or see while we were there, for the most part we just went with the flow. Living in the moment is something that I struggle with because I am such an analytical person. I’m always thinking about the consequences and repercussions of everything I do. In theory, it is a good thing for intellectual and safety reasons, but sometimes it can be a hindrance.
My idea to even travel to LA was an instance in which I was living in the moment. One day I randomly decided to go and bought my ticket right then and there. Thankfully, I didn’t rethink, second guess, or talk myself out of it as I might have in the past, but instead made a decision to just live and have fun. The world is a scary place in today’s day in age and it can cause you to not even want to leave the house. However, I refuse live in fear or be a victim of the circumstances of the times.
If you have a desire to do something and have the ability or means to do so, then I say get out there and do it. Life truly is a breeze, and each day should be lived as if it is your last. While it is much easier said than done, effort can go a long way. As a young woman, I am still learning who I am and who I want to be. Moving forward, I am vowing to make the effort to live more in the moment and am giving a friendly reminder to encourage others to do the same.
