Spiritual Getaway

Hey Lovelies,

One of the most enjoyable things to do with your significant other or friends, in my opinion, is to travel. Experiencing new things and places with your loved ones creates lasting memories and deepens bonds. There are many spiritual locations located all throughout the world for lovers and friends alike. Each week, I will introduce a spiritual destination that would make a perfect romantic getaway or a fun trip with your girl or guy friends.

This week’s featured travel destination is Tibet.
Being the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibet is a spiritual destination that is unmatched. While it is home to the largest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, Tibet also offers many attractions and sacred locations that provide for a wonderful and enlightened experience.

Potola Palace

The Potala Palace is located in Lhasa Tibet, China, and was the former home of the Dalai Lama. This sacred palace is composed of red and white palaces, and was used as a meditation retreat for many spiritual, enlightened, and political leaders. It houses chapels and assembly halls for worship and contains a religious school for training monks and administrators. Potala Palace is one of Tibet’s biggest pilgrimage destinations. The palace is located on a large mountain, so a lot of walking is required when visiting and some may experience altitude sickness. All visitors must observe Buddhist Tibetan customs when present, such as removing hats, not taking photos inside, and not stepping on the threshold.

Monasteries and Temples

Samye Monastery is the first monastery built in Tibet and is birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism. It contains numerous frescos, sculptures, and prayer wheels. Sona Monastery is a popular place to go and witness monks debate scriptures. The Jokhang Temple is the most sacred temple for Tibetan People and attracts pilgrims from all over the region.

Bargain Shopping

Barkhor Street is an ancient round street also located in Lhasa, Tibet surrounding the Jokhang Temple. Visitors should be mindful that Tibetan pilgrims walk around street only in a clockwise direction. There are countless shops alongside that contain many religious, spiritual, and exotic articles for purchase.

These are just a few of the many great things Tibet has to offer. To me, Tibet sounds like a great travel destination to feed your spiritual growth.

With Love,
Miss T
