Spiritual Getaway

Hey Lovelies,

One of the most enjoyable things to do with your significant other or friends, in my opinion, is to travel. Experiencing new things and places with your loved ones creates lasting memories and deepens bonds. There are many spiritual locations located all throughout the world for lovers and friends alike. Each week, I will introduce a spiritual destination that would make a perfect romantic getaway or a fun trip with your girl or guy friends.

This week’s featured travel destination is the holy city of Rishikesh, India.

Rishikesh was popularized in the Western world by the iconic super-group, The Beatles. It is said that the Beatles spent the late 1960’s writing almost 50 songs, while high on psychedelic drugs, at the ashram of Yogi, Maharishi Mahesh. Rishikesh has plenty of spiritual destinations and activities to provide for a wonderful and awe-inspiring spiritual getaway.

Ashrams

  • An ashram is defined as a hermitage, monastic community, or other place of religious retreat. Ashrams are found in plenty in Rishikesh, India. They are the choice centers of yoga and meditation for visitors and locals alike. Some of the most notable ashrams located in the city are Parmarth Niketan, PIFY, Anand Prakash, Sivananda, and Phool Chatti

Yoga and Meditation Schools

  • Rishikesh is referred to as the “Yoga Capital of the World”. The city hosts The International Yoga Festival, which attracts many yogis from all over the world. There are countess mediation and yoga schools present that can help to assist and guide you in your practice. Some of the most notable schools are Shree Mahesh Heritahe and Shiva Tattva Yoga School

Outdoor Activities

  • Rishikesh is located at the base of the Himalayan mountains, which contains many of the world’s highest peaks. There are plenty of tours through out the mountain range, as well as numerous reflective hiking trails leading to sacred temples. Rajaji National Park is a convenient drive away and houses many wondrous animals, including tigers leopards, elephants and much more. The Ganges is a notable sacred river to those of the Hindu faith. Tourists are welcome to experience river rafting adventures along the river and the river bank is home to many holy temples.

Rishikesh is the perfect destination for the ultimate spiritual getaway. It is the birthplace of many spiritual practices used today, in the western and modern world. There are also many package deals offered on attractions to help visitors save on expenses. If you are looking to elevate your soul, Rishikesh, India seems like a great place to check out. I personally plan on making a trip over within the next few years.

Have a great weekend everyone!

With Love
Miss T
